In clothing, that meant two moods at once. One was futuristic: metallic and iridescent fabrics, PVC, tinted and wraparound sunglasses, silver accessories. The other was playful pop: bright pinks, lime and orange, baby blue, butterfly and flower motifs, animal print, glitter and rhinestones. Y2K fashion for women: outfits to try
An easy everyday version: straight or slightly flared low or mid rise jeans, a fitted baby tee in a soft color, a small shoulder bag and chunky sneakers. The proportions are the point, fitted on top and relaxed at the leg. Add tinted sunglasses or a claw clip if you want to push it further. If you prefer not to show your midriff, a baby tee that just meets a mid rise waistband gives the same shape.
For evening, try a satin slip skirt or a denim mini with a halter or corset top, a cropped cardigan and strappy heels or platform sandals. Men's early 2000s style drew heavily on sportswear and hip hop. Think wide leg or relaxed jeans, cargo pants, oversized basketball and throwback jerseys, tracksuits, bucket hats and trucker caps, polo shirts with popped collars, and chunky sneakers. Skate and surf brands shaped the suburban version, with graphic tees, zip hoodies and baggy shorts below the knee.

The fastest route to costume is wearing every signature at once: low jeans, a slogan baby tee, velour, butterfly clips, frosted lips and tinted glasses together.
